We’re making strides against breast cancer—again!

Cancer, HHTC News | Published: October 6th 2021, 02:39PM

Learn about our efforts to support our patients, families, and friends in the fight against breast cancer through our work with the American Cancer Society

As the most common cancer for women in the United States, there is a 1 in 8 chance that an American woman will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. It’s estimated that there will be 281,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer diagnosed in 2021. [1]

Despite these daunting statistics, the fatality rate of breast cancer has continually decreased in the past decade, thanks to early detection through screening and increased awareness as well as better treatment options. [1]

With more than 3.8 million breast cancer survivors across the country, it’s essential to continue research and innovation to find better treatments for those actively battling the cancer and those suffering complications in remission.

At Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center, we’re proud of our work with the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative to play a part in their mission to fund research and provide support to patients.

What is Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center doing to fight breast cancer?

Since 2019, the Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center team has been involved in the Making Strides of Orlando walk to raise money in support of the American Cancer Society

During the Making Strides of Orlando walk in 2019, the Hyperbaric Healing team raised a total of $2,451 for breast cancer research, ending up 28th out of the 600 teams that participated. Due to health and safety measures in 2020, the annual walk was completed by individuals in their neighborhood or local park, but our team proudly continued fundraising efforts to support the American Cancer Society.

Erika Jordan, our hyperbaric director and founder, has been a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) Orlando committee for the past few years, and acts as our Hyperbaric Healing team leader in our 2021 walk.
