Importance of Onboarding

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) looks like a very simple procedure but behind the scenes, there is a lot going on that many do not realize. Therefore, it is important to have a thorough workup clearing the patient before starting their first treatment with us.

At Hyperbaric Healing Treatment Center, we are set up similar to the hospital, but is privately owned and operated, so we can treat conditions that do not fit into the narrow hospital guidelines. Whether insurance or cash-paying, every patient gets the same workup prior to starting treatment with us.

The reason why we have established a safe and effective onboarding process is to reduce or eliminate risks that could occur during treatment. There are many factors that can alter your treatment protocol some examples are; pregnancy, chronic pulmonary conditions, cardiac conditions, certain chemotherapy drugs, high doses of steroids, to name a few.

Once a patient has chosen to have their treatment with us there are few steps required for completing our onboarding process:

1. New Patient Hyperbaric Risk assessment: This is performed by a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) to screen you from head to toe, in order to be cleared for treatment. In an event clearance or additional imaging is required we will assist with obtaining any needed medical records on your behalf.

2. Obtain Prescription for treatment: Oxygen is considered a drug and therefore a prescription must be written to perform a hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Prior to the start, we will obtain that clearance from our Hyperbaric trained medical director. There is no additional charge for the treatment prescription for our patients.

3. New Patient Orientation: This is performed by a CHT to properly prepare you for your Hyperbaric Treatments. Questions and risks/benefits will be discussed prior to the start.
